  • Andarine (S-4)

Andarine was developed by a pharmaceutical company (GTX, Inc) that specializes in the development of SERMs and SARMs for the treatment of conditions such as muscle atrophy (decrease in muscle mass), osteoporosis (weakened bones) and benign prostatic hypertrophy (non-cancerous increase in size of prostate).

Andarine is an active partial agonist of the androgen receptor. Being partial agonist means that Andarine has lower anabolic or androgenic effects compared to other SARMs and therefore considered as a mild SARM. Andarine only affects bone and muscles where other SARMs of the anabolic androgenic steroid category also affect secondary sex organs. When Adarine binds to androgen receptors it alters the gene expression which increases anabolism by increased protein synthesis. Anabolism is a process where organs and tissues are building up, producing growth and differentiation of cells and increase in body size.

Andarine on its own is not suitable for gaining muscle mass but rather as an addition to a good workout plan in combination with other SARMs. Among bodybuilders Andarine is known for increasing strength which enables weight lifters to lift more weight thus increasing muscle mass.

When trying to lose body fat, more calories must be burned than taken in which leads to decreased lean muscle tissue. In this context Andarine provides protection to lean muscle tissue which make it an attractive supplement for workouts that aim to burn fat quickly. Many bodybuilders describe their muscles as being harder when going down a cutting plan together with Andarine.

According to studies on osteopenic female rats [1] it was found that Andarine is able to increase bone density and mass while recovering the state of the bones to an age-appropriate normal level. The bone protective effects of Andarine and its ability to increase lean muscle mass make it a possible alternative for the treatment of osteoporosis.

Another study on rats suggested that Andarine can increase the weight of levator ani muscles [2]. These muscles help to control urine flow, support the pelvic organs and help to prevent urinary incontinence.

Andarine is considered as one of the best and mildest SARMs out there for supplementing along with every day fitness.

Effects

  • Increased strength

  • Increased protein synthesis

  • Solid muscles

  • Protection of lean muscle

Dosage

Most sources recommend between 25 mg and 75 mg per day. When taken for the first time, starting with smaller doses such as 25 mg per day are recommended to mitigate side effects.

Since Andarine has a half-life of up to four hours, doses can be split into 3 doses per day. This depends on the individual workout plan and its intensity.

Stacking

Andarine is commonly stacked with other SARMs or performance enhancing supplements. Since it is capable of mitigating side effects of other SARMs, by some people it is taken with Ostarine and Cardarine.

Side Effects

Andarine is generally well-tolerated compared to other SARMs or anabolic steroids which usually come with noticeable side effects.

Attention

Do not use when pregnant or breastfeeding. Always use a safe dosage. Never take more Andarine than recommended. Prolonged administration of Andarine can lead to health problems. Always consult a medical professional before administering Andarine or any other SARM. For research purposes only!

Legal

Currently as a research compound, Andarine is still legally available, unlike anabolic steroids. However, this may change anytime since it was originally developed as a medicine.

It is listed on the list of prohibited drugs of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and its usage is considered as doping by the Anti-Doping Agency of the United States (USADA). Professional athletes should therefore stay away from Andarine.
